It's fine if you want to get someones attention, beyond that it doesn't make much difference in power. Maybe a little more up top with other supporting mods?
You can always plug it up if you want it quiet.

I haven't been able to find many mod's for omc's. It seems everything racing is mercury.

Have one on a 140 XFlow.....basically as stated above. However....its great when your firing up at the launch and the snout is out of the water....people tend to rubber neck and wonder....also sounds great at WOT hanging it on the lake!!

I'm running a bobs exhaust on my 200 Looper. It really seemed to clean up the idle.....maybe because there is not all that back pressure from blowing it down through the gearcase now? I know everyone on here says that you won't gain any more power from it, but I gained about 2mph on the top end. Not sure if it was from the snout or something else....but I didn't change anything else.
It can be a little loud for people who are sitting in the back of the boat, but other than that it's great. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Plus if you are running an over the hub prop, it will relieve the exhaust above the prop and that may help with some cavitations problems coming out of the hole.

Thanks guys. Im gonna give it a shot.
On the Mercs I just drilled 2 inch relief holes rather than having to buy anything. Sounds great but doesn't really add much power.

Another pluss is you lower unit seals will last longer without the exhaust coming through there.

One thing to consider though, if you drill holes in the mid, you will weaken it. And I have heard they will crack so I did drill holes (hole saw) but I had the exhaust snoot welded on, all the way around.
