USING A DIGITRON WITH TACH AND DUAL EGT,,, HOW ACCURATE IS THE TACH DISPLAY BEING YOU HAVE TO HOOK UP ONLY LEAD TO THE SPARK PLUG......OR DO THEY OFFER A TACH HARNESS LIKE MERCURY WITH THE GRAY/PURPLE/BLACK.... AND IF YOU HAVE TO HOOK UP ONLY ONE LEAD TO THE SPARK PLUG DOES IT GIVE YOU AN EXACT TACH DISPLAY FOR ALL 6 CYL. OR DOES IT MATTER. THE DIGITRON IS THE ONLY UNIT I HAVE FOUND THAT OFFERS DUAL EGT AND TACH THATS DIGITAL AND HAS RECALL.. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANOTHER UNITL LIKE THIS LET ME KNOW... THANKS CHRIS

I think digitron can set the gauge up to read off the tach harness, but they would steer you to use the inductive pickup. They are good guys. Built here in US, unlike most other electronics. Ask for Bettie.

I had a problem where the dataloging feature was cutting out at low speed. I called digitron thinking the tach reading was off, and asking if I could use the tach harnesss. They said yes, but told me to try using two spark leads for the inductive pickup and changing the multiplier in the gauge. It worked. Apparently the datalog is triggered at startup and the gauge thinks anything below 1000 pulse/sec is off. The fix worked.

Would you expect rpm to vary between cylinders? Just kidding, maybe I didn't understand your question.

Did they send you the inductive harness. Mine only flashed to zero at idle once and a while; but never over 100 rpm's.

Yes, I got the inductive harness. Don't remember if it flashed zero's. It would just trigger the datalogging start/stop when I idled. Wrapping the wire around two spark leads (and changing the multiplier to 2x) fixed it.

BTW the black pickup on the the inductive harness is just a wire. They said it used to house a coil, but they found they only needed a wire. The y left the balck piece on to avoid questions about the change.

I had no idea what it was so I grounded it. Shouldf I disconnect it. I don't think it's causing any problems.
