Scream And Fly
05-29-2010, 05:47 AM
Scream And Fly was started in late 1998, and in 2001 we started using a then-unheard of beta bulletin board system called VBulletin. Back then, nobody was using VBulletin, or even heard of it. We began our first registration message board in April, 2001 and here are some early images of those days. :)

Look at the registered members on the first page from May of 2001. Thats about the time I signed on under my old screenname of just Patches. I started reading it under the format that came before that one and signed when Greg switched up to the vbulletin format. Greg, do you have a pic of what it looked like as an angelfire board

Greg, the new S&F is absolutely great!!! I have to say that the first day I opened it up I was a little scared because I didn't know where anything was but that is understandable being the new re-vamping changed basically the whole format. I find that with each update you do all the questions that are being asked are being answered as you have been saying all along. I like it very much and I had an easy time doing a search for an old thread. I think that the way it is designed and the format that gives your advertisers exposure is perfect, I look at all the advertisements. I find the site very professional and still the best boating site on the net!!!! When APBA changed their site and updated it I found it much harder to navigate around and find things, I still have a hard time with it, but here with your changes it is not major so with time I think that most who are having a hard time will understand it. It is a change for the better and something that everyone has to do if they own a website as big as this. Keep up the great work and thanks so much for all the time and effort you put in to make this the "Best Site On The Net"!!!!! I found my way out of the ~Wizard Of Oz~ which only took a few days and now I feel like I am back home again.....:smiletest:;)
The only thing I will add that you may need to know which may be corrected on an update is when I go to edit a post it doesn't let me, the cursor jumps all around and won't go to the bottom...just thought you might need to know that otherwise everything is working fine and the speed has very much increased...thanks for everything!!!

its crazy when you think about how long alot of us have been here and the amount of changes the site has gone through and to top it all off the friendships that have been formed....i just hope that we will be able to stay the way we are with a fun group of people both new and old in a great forum that is owned by a PERSON THAT GIVES A CRAP unlike some of the other forums that have sold out to huge .com companies that dont give a damn about the people that made and make there site what it is.....
keep on keepin on greg....

Rich Owen and a few others tried to get me on board a long time ago. I was still in my shun technology mindset. Glad I came around. I just got a cell phone the end of last year!
The new site is looking good! Thanks Greg!

The new format is going good as far as I'm concerned. Do you have the # of members by year? It would be cool to see how the site has grown.

Where do you find your number? I remember it well and we had a handfull. Every thing changes and this has become a well respected site. Since I have moved to Fl it amazes me how many performance boaters I run into that are members here. Thanks Gregg,RM and all involved. Rick

Very cool. Couldn't sleep a few wks back and signed on at about 2:00 A.M. to just snoop around and see what was going on. I some how ended up in the old archives that Greg just posted. I think I read for 3 hrs! Amazing stuff and was cool to read some of the posts from the guys not around any more.
Great stuff Greg. Thanks for all the yrs of hard work and dedication. I too remember the first board and even the short lived "Offshore" section.
