Yes, experience is the best teacher. I have had some great times and some bad ones and I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world. :D
It would just be nice if our Kids didn't make the same ones we did, but I know they will  But then when they do, we know what roads we went and can direct them on another route. ;) so maybe in the end that isn't such a bad thing after all.

I'm proposing this weekend.
I have to marry this woman. I wanted us to pick out an engagement ring together and was execting to spend----- lets say, 'an easy $1500 more than the one she picked out!
She told me that jewelry doesn't impress her all that much and besides, I CAN USE THE MONEY FOR 'OUR' BOAT in the future!
The woman of my dreams:)

Doubledog that sounds like a great lady. If marriage is to be sucessful sharing interests helps a great deal. I wish you happiness and as my father used to say that woman is a keeper. Congradulations. Delawarerick

I was married for a short time when I was real young and learned a lot. (can it be called a mistake if that happens?)
Either way, we were both selfish and didn't know each other. Thankfully there was nothing involved with the divorce other than hurt feelings.
This lady (Petra) is my dream come true, but also my best friend. Don't want to sound crazy or religious, but I'd prayed that there was such a person.
Dang guys, now I'm talking all mushy........ eeeuuuuuuuuuuwwwweeeeee!!!!!
(really, I hope everyone out there can exerience the happiness I feel):)

GOOD GAWD MEN?!?!?!
Is this the Oprah message board, or Scream and Fly????
:D :D :D ;) ;) ;)
Just kidding of course.
My parents were boating buddies with my wife's parents. They hooked us up!!! I knew her parents and was friends with them before I even met her. Her whole family are boating nuts!
My mom knew her before I did.
I remember my mom telling me that if I don't fall in love with her, we will end up being best friends. Well, guess what? We did both.
Together over six years now, married a little over one year!
Congrats, JW. I wish the two of you many more happy years.
Congrats, Doubledog. Sounds like you found "the one"!

Brother, after reading my last few posts, I see where I got off the real subject.
Congrats to you and all the others on your many years of happiness. People staying together isn't something you find very much these days in the world we live in.

THATS cool for ya,
Just turned 10 years here and no looking back
Hey Anthony...
Brad and I just passed #10 as well. Just last week!
I was told that after 10, it's all smooth sailing. Well, then we are in for a double treat, because that first 10 was all smooth sailing for us anyway!
Contgrats to JW and his bride - and wishing them happiness for another 19 years!
And Congrats also to Doubledog....may you be blessed with wedded bliss too!!

...thats cool...
What was your date. Ours was May 22.
We did the City Hall thing in a Private service...then called our folks and told 'em we got married:D
We were sort of rebels but they expected it from us!!:D
Someday my wife would like to do a formal church wedding and invite our folks...this time!!
My daughter turned 16 this spring. YIKES!!
She's dating her first boyfriend, a really nice chap. He lives a few houses down the shoreline from us, so boating/fishing is what he does every day. Crossing our fingers and keeping our eyes open, hoping Sarah doesn't do the 'fun' things we did at that age :D
My parents met at a lake near here. Both my grandparents lived on the same lake, directly across from each other. That's how my parents met, and then they owned lake property on and off my whole life. Finally, at 38 years young (last December), we took the plunge and bought our own lake house. It's a king's ransom every month, but you only live once. I guess you could say that lakes have been in my family since the early '50's, possible longer.
