Need a lesson on props.:smiletest:

What are the advantages/disadvantages of through or over hub props ?

I have tried a through hub cleaver on my boat and loved it. I am looking to buy one, found an over hub cleaver(same pitch) at the right $$. How different will this perform ?

As a very rough guide, over hub props are better on top end, thru hub props accelerate better, due to less cavitation.

Ok thanks.
So if i got an over hub cleaver I should look for a smaller pitch to keep the same accel.

The pitch would probably be about the same. The over hub will cavitate more from a standing start, reducing acceleration.

The over hub will be faster on the top end, because they work better at higher engine heights.
