O no!
On top of all the ideas I already had, I just saw a 175 Mariner with 3 blown cyl's for sale. it's a '92. +-$600.-
What are these 2.0 or more? And is it any good for some 1st time motor rebuilding?
Any chance of getting it's hp up bit?
Thanks,
Gerben

had a friend that had a 89 175 mariner had noting but problems with it the motor blew 2 times before he replaced the powerhead and blew 3 times after that the powerhead was replaced one out of the three again and it still did it the marine was not a real repatable mrine that did the work but would have to asume they were better than that this all happened in two years time i know someone else that blew a 87 225 and bought a rebuilt powerhead from goer three years ago and has never had problems with it so i would at least be careful a new powerhead is in the vicinity of 5000 i was told. they seem to always break the pin and send a rod out the case to for some reason.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply's. Unfortunately, the motor has been sold (and not to me :-( )
Damn. Would have been a good starting point for some "self"-education. Ok Ok S&F education, but diy anyways.
Thanks,
Gerben

Too bad about the engine.
Not putting a 175 hp+ engine on your Piranha may make you live longer, though. ;)
Have you been able to get a new job, by the way?

Ehhm. Not sure the Bagheera would float that one..
Did see a pantera though, that should work..:D :D
Not really on the lookout yet for a new job. (too busy with other stuff :p )
Technically I'm still employed. They are working on getting me out. Workers are well protected over here, and as he didn't have a real good reason to fire me, it takes some time.
Told him the easy way to do it, but he didn't..
Should be over end of this year so will start looking this month..
Also have a Simms Super V (ever heard of it?). This might just float a V-6 ;) .
Greets,
Gerben
