I know its not the best option, but is it safe to use two jack plates bolted together? I have a cmc 5.5 manual jackplate and a cmc hydraulic. I also have 4" extension plates.

From what I have seen and read, when using a hydraulic it should be the last link or can I use my extensions between it and the motor?

Using the second jack plate instead seems like it would be stronger to me and get a little more setback.

Ideas? Thoughts???

Thanks
Ross

ok, thats what I was thinking about, just wasn't sure if anyone has had any issues with that.

it is a 21.5 ft Sleek Craft tunnel. It had the manual plate on it with the extensions on back of it before motor. The transom is built very strong and well reinforced so I'm not concerned about that. But now that I have the Hydraulic I'm debating on how to set it up.

Thanks

We have jack plates with large setbacks, 10, 12, and 14 inch. (one piece side rails, not with C channel spacers) It really is safer than having multiple sets of bolts which can loosen over time, as well as give a cleaner look. While I hope you would consider a Bob's, other brands do have large setbacks too.

I've ran 2 manual jack plates piggy backed with no problems. IF some of you remember At100Plus use to run 3 jack plates on his HST :eek: and he had that thing really moving out too.

Chris

That boat was worth 130 pounds of setback:D

he also had a set of alu spacers on it.

Thanks guys. Good to hear people are doing that effectively.

Steven, thanks for the info. I have looked at that but since I have both of these the cost is much more effective for now until I can fine tune the setup.
