Could anyone tell me about the X-Stream Vista. I can't find much on Hydrostream.org. How do they compare to the V-King? What is the difference in hull design. Besides it being a Canadian boat I don't know much. The one I'm looking at is a 1994.
Thanks,

I Know there just isn't much out there on it. Kinda sucks I would like to know something before I go look at it. Just curious how it compares to other Streams I guess.

The Vista is a Canadian Edition-only boat...that is, HydroStream "US" never made this model in the same configuration as Canadian Edition.
To be more clear:
HydroStream U.S. (Pipkorn/Minnesota company, the original) made a Vista which was a long-deck bowrider built on the "ZT" hull (same hull as the Hooker bass boat and Virage sport boat). This boat never reached actual production. A prototype was built and run as a photo boat for the 1990 catalog but the production boats were never built. The white and blue one shown in the 1990 catalog is an actual boat (and did get sold, to whom I don't know) but it was not in final production mode when I left in March 1990. The company closed one year later.
Canadian Edition made their own Vista, beginning in the late 1980s. This boat was based on the 17'9" (usually referred to as 18') Viking/Valero V-hull. The Canadian Vista used a deck of their own design but based very much on the US HydroStream Voyager, complete with body contoured lounge seats in the bow section. I owned one of these from 1992 to 1998. It was a decent hull but not very well built. I sold it to a friend in New Jersey who still has it, I believe. Performance should be similar to the Viking/Valero, a bit slower of course due to the extra weight and higher windshield/open bow.

Thank you JWTjr. It looked like the Viking v-hull design with a different deck. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow. What makes you say its not that well built?
Thanks again that's way more info than I could find.

It would be similar to a Vaserette...

No problem.
Most of the Tucker-built boats were not well constructed, same as some of the Pipkorn boats. Built on a shoestring budget with whatever materials could be scrounged up, found, bought on a very limited budget. The one I had didn't have properly sealed floor, very noticeable print through on the deck and hull sides, and enough deck flex side-to-side that the walk-through windshield didn't close properly after awhile.

similar (to a Vasserette V-bottom, not the YT of course) but not the same. The Vasserette's deck was completely different than the Canadian Vista's...not even close.

I went and looked at it. I thought it was a nice boat in great shape for a 94. It only had two small stress cracks in the splash well as expected. The gelcote was real nice with no see through. I thought the quality was similar to the Action I owned, but not as good as other center consoles I've owned. They definitely cheaped out on some stuff. First, there are a few hatches and other things like that where the plywood was not glassed. The padding was just stapled over the wood. Second, the fiberglass in the bowrider section is thinner than I would have thought. It ovbiously cannot be compared to a new built boat. It looked like the cap was glassed to the hull which I like. It also has a flat pad like the Viking All in all I liked the boat and the structural quality seemed good and the boat is solid. Its no Intrepid, but should be a fun, fast, family boat. So I left a deposit. You can tell it's been babied and kept in a garage.
