what happens to a pad boat when its not going fast enough to get up on the pad? does it run leaning to the side?

Over generalized answer: Basically, not necessarily. There's more planing surface when the boat is not on the pad than when it is. There ARE variables.

A good example is my Allison that runs like a non pad boat till around 55 mph or so then starts to rock a little side to side, then you have to drive it .:D
