What weight oil should I be running in a Ford 460? What should the oil pressure be? Reason being is my oil pressure usually sits right in the middle, but yesterday I noticed it dropped a notch and I really don't know what the correct pressure should be? There is no knocking, noises, burning of oil, or performance issues and I really don't think there's any major problems.:thumbsup: I would like to just know.http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

I run 15-40 Rotella with Lucas oil additive, also use a oil accumulator. It runs 75 lbs with a HV Melling pump. Under hard running it will drop to 50-60. Sounds like maybe your oil needs to be changed. I love the accumulator it saves and helps to maintain steady oil pressure.

not to thread jack, but i also have an oil related BBF 460 question. I am adding a remote mount oil filter kit to my engine. Are -8 size hoses big enough?

i think so as long as you dont put the fiter to far from the motor {2 or three feet max }

Mine has had Valvoline 20-50 run through it for the past 34 years and is still on the original motor :)

Almost all modern "shelf" oils available today have been depleted of thier "good additives" by restrictions and regulations , recommend always check for anti wear properties , we use Comp, Garlits, Torco ZEP type additives in all builds and services good stuff Tom

Thats true however a diesel running 18 or so to 1 comp with very close tolerances still recommend their oils. A diesel runs ,hot, hard however low Rpm, etc. I still run a additive like Lucas with mine.
