I spent some time today playing around with a few different props trying find that 80mph top speed I have been ever so close to.
This is a boat I bought off ScreamandFly and have had a lot of help from memebrs getting squared away.
Best speed to date was 79mph.
Today I got there running a best of 82.2mph spinning a 14x28 Merc cleaver (bought off Craig's list and not touched for my boat) to 6300rpm with all my gear, anchor, lines, fenders etc. in the boat. We pulled everything out and made a second pass at 82.6mph. The prop has been checked for pitch but that puts my slip at about 1% so there may be some error in my ability to look at a tach in a 13' boat going 80+ mph :D
Boat ran straight felt great. I got some video of some passes by my friends boat at about 78mph earlier in the day I will post once they are uploaded.

I am going to run a 30 cleaver and see what happens. Would like to see 85mph with a stock 130 Yamaha ! I may have to go to a hull mounted water pickup. I think on the right cold clear day it will get there.

PS. I want to thank Rich from Leading Edge Propeller for helping me. We probably need to start tuning this prop in to my boat now.

That's pretty fast in a 13' boat. Do you have some pics of the boat?

Seats four and has a ton of room. I ran 72 today with 400 pounds of driver/passenger. I weigh a little over 200. I need to get Rich to drive it and 85mph is a done deal.

Soem of the pics are older and I have made some cosmetic changes. new gauges, etc. Needs a wild paint job to go with the performance now.

Pretty good to a point then kicks your azz. I can run across a tight white capped 1' chop at 70mph and not feel it. A little bigger and its all over. Hard time with boat wakes. Its one of those boats that you can go like hell to a point then have to just get off plane or suffer. No in between. Boat weighs 500 pounds rigged w/o motor.

Nope. Mines a collector :)
Theres one in northern California with a 225 that runs 95mph.

Is anyone familiar with any other boats like this? I know there are the scat cats and some others but none I know of that will float a bigger motor and run like this that I have been able to find.

I'm going to have the Vector out tomorrow to try out the new steering and the water scoops to see how high I can raise the engine. Heading south tomorrow?
