John, the 15 ft. Allison, and of course a 15 ft. Hydrostream Viper! Both are perfect for a inline short shaft as long as they are both nice-n-light.

The Hydrostream 14' Vandal is the perfect candidate for the short shaft inlines and v6, bolted right to the transom.

I have pics of the boat. The core is good. I replaced the floor 2 years ago. The boat comes unrigged. Just seats and carpet. :)

Had one with a 1500xs. Ran great, turned a 26' cleaver 6400. Also had an old 125BP on it. Turned it 7000 with an offshore 28.

Hey, I might have my '73 1500 free...what can I put it on to get over 60-65mph? Do I need to put a short leg on it for these? Seems to like 5500-5600rpm best though, and went slower with a smaller prop on my 17'.

When I had a 150 I6 on my Viper it would run 66 mph at 6000. :D

Think I need a 22-23" transom for this one. 'Streams hard to find here, but I'll look around. Depends on what I do with the Checkmate.
