i run a mitzi 17 tunnel. it is a short, shallow, relatively flat tunnel. i have a 2009 yamaha carb 90 swingin a trophy plus 16 pitch with added cup. i can swing it to 6200 rpm's right at 44 mph loaded with a troler and 2 batteries as well as a group 32 house battery, and 30 gallons of water in the livewell. i have a new boat on order but wanna see what she'll do before i sell her. what are the chances i can get a 21 pitch 3 blade up to 5400 rpm?

here are a few pics of the boat so you can see what im workin with....

lighten up the boat, take a 21 and 23 a try it.... an SRX might get you numbers you never thought was possible, but you will need to toss the troller, batteries and water.

Bottom line here is that you cannot go fast and carry alot of weight. Your hull is not designed to go really fast but it can go faster. Loosing the holeshot certainly will help in your quest for speed but I suspect raising your motor with the right prop and appropriate cooling options will get you where you want to be.

i will run the boat slap empty to see what it has once i get a hold of a prop. im not worried about the motor gettin enough water. i have a bobs jack plate. i rigged it so the ram is mounted on the plate so it goes up to +7.5" instead of +6". also the motor is all the way up on the plate. i can jack and trim the motor till the trophy plus blows out before i loose water pressure.

whats this "srx" prop you speak of?

I have a 22 small ear chopper with some holeshot work done to it that might run real well. It would be intersting to see what it would do. Lots of bow lift and it comes out of the hole really well.
