Chopper gives bow lift, if you are running a padded hull and surfacing the prop, then yeah, it would help top end and possibly hurt low end punch.
What kind of hull are you running, what is your current set up? got some pic's? are these GPS numbers? Have Tach numbers?

have a 16.9 ft javelin bass boat deep v 90 in beam fiberglass
90 hp 2000 ho
boat apx 1200 pds
running 5 inch off transom plate is even with second step in back
54 mph @ 5500-5400 rpms mph dependes on water temp
if i raise it any more i start loose pressure
prop has only been sharpend by me
i am not looking for 100 mph but like to inccrease top end
and possible some rpms because with second person it looses to 51--52 mph

i get the feeling something like a tempest would do better. unless you want to put a nose cone on it and surface it, then yes, a chopper will help alot. any pic's of it running flat out? that would help determine how level your running. you use it for fishing or just boating?

unless you have a nose cone, you will need to keep that gear case in the water. the exhaust being loud tells me its up there. if you want top end and don't mind loosing your low end punch, get a jack plate and a low water pickup nose cone, and go to a chopper. This will give you a bad hole shot, and make the boat a lot more finicky but with some tweeking that might get you to an even 60MPH. other then that, i would do some prop testing.

I don't know anyone up there, but most shops get fed ex and ups shipments in daily if you can't find a local shop. I would also not recommend sharpening your blades yourself. Leave that stuff to the pro's. Reeds seem to be a hot item for debate, what everyone agrees on is that boysen and CCM reeds help a hot motor idle better and won't destroy a motor if a reed fails and is ingested. I think they help, like everything else else, a little here, a little there and you have made a few more ponies. Chris Carson Marine sells some reeds they make inhouse of their own design and lots of guys on here love em, I have a set I am gonna use in my next build. and they are really in expensive for the quality you are getting. If you are looking to do a few mods, you can get the big bore carbs for your motor, open the exhaust, cut the heads or put stuffed heads on. This will get you a little bit more.
Looks these guys up, they have done alot with these crossflow motors and are more then willing to help you out!
