i have a 88 banshee, and need to know how to set up the fuel system for a 140 hp, what type of valve set up to switch tanks or do you run them both open at the same time

I have EFI that uses a return line, the pick-ups are at the rear and have a ball valve on each. Also have ball valves on the returns which are at the ft of the tank. The outlets go to water separating filter, then Fuel pump, then inline filter then to engine. You can pull fuel from one or two tanks. I will normaly pull of 1, no guages so when in unfamiliar lake when tank 1 runs out will have enough fuel to get back.

You can also buy a three way valve--two ins, one out, and a lever to switch tanks. My motor is a carb motor, so no issue with return lines. I typically run until one quits, then switch. West Marine or any good internet supply house should have them.

You know, I guess there is no reason not to run off both tanks at once. I grew up with 6 gallon tanks, you unplugged one from the motor and plugged the other in. I'm with Dave--even though I have gauges, I think it is a good idea to turn around when the first tank runs out.

They never end up even, and cause fuel draw issues. My first vector had a dual setup Y'd into a single fuel line, and it was a pain in the balls.

Anyhow, my ranger has dual tanks with a selector switch, it must have worked well because ranger had tons of boats with a setup like this. For why, I have absolutely no clue, other than possible fuel draw issues when you run a big tank low. there is plenty of room to fit one big single tank in the boat.
