What do you guys think about the perfomance and quality of Spinelli props, I'm considering a DR4 for the Sleekcraft, any cracking or blade slinging issues to be concerned about, I have'nt heard much about them, how do they compare to the Pro ET or the Drag 4, also does anyone know the history of Spinelli, I remember reading somewhere that it was run by two brothers from New York and that they went out of buisness a few years back, Thanks.

From what I heard they run pretty good, I ran one a couple times and really wished I had bought it. The DR4 is a great lifting prop and hauls the mail.

Thanks Chummy, thats what I was hoping to hear, the Sleek needs the lift from what I've read, I think I'll try this one if I can get it for a reasonable price.

I like them. Wish they were still in business. I have a DR4 on my Liberator and love it.

I just picked up a mint 29 DR4 for a very good price. It's propped for a fat shaft which is what I just put on my 260. Can't wait to try it. They are becoming more and more rare. If it's in good shape buy it. You can always resell if it does not work well on your boat.

Thanks Wiz, I'm wanting to have as many as I can on hand to try at the same time when she hits the water, the Drag 4 in 28 to 30 pitch is also on the list of props I'd like to try, the plan is to keep the best 2 or 3 of the bunch and resell the rest

The Drag IV is a bad azz prop. I had to sell my beautiful 30p because I switched from a small shaft CLE to a fat shaft sporty and my 30 was a pressed hub small shaft not the Flow Torque. I'm looking for another 30p flow torque Drag IV.

I wanted to buy that 30 but I think it was Bud that beat me to it, I'm still looking, if you hear of a small shaft in the 30 range I'd appreciate a heads up, Thanks

:D:D Dang sure did!!! But it is amazing how similar the Spinelli DR4 and the Drag 4 are to each other.

Had one a few years back.
Great prop!
Thin props like Spinellli and Mazco are not the most durable, though.

Drag 4 on the right ? Bud you wasted no time when Dan posted the prop thread and said he was going to the sporty, gotta be quick, the Drag 4's are popular and BTW if for some reason you decide to sell it please let me know, Thanks:thumbsup:

Flat, Dan Weeden bought up their inventory before they closed up. I bought several sets from Dan back in 2004. Don't know if he has any left but you can email him @ Dan Weeden [dweeden@sympatico.ca].

Only problem I have had is keeping the hub from spinning. My best prop is a spinnelli, and the performance is great. Goes thru a hub once a year. It is surfacing and the boat runs hard whenever it's run. Had several shops try over the years. Any one else have this happen? BTW this prop never touches bottom.

Try another shop. Never had hub issues with Spinelli's (32s / 34" rake @ 8,500+) . . . . . .

Dang that's a nice pair of props. Bud I hope that shiney DragIV runs as good on your boat as it did on mine. I got it from Stitch King when he went to fat shaft and the did the same thing. I came really close to having it rehubbed! You don't see many polished Drag IV's. My DR4 looks a little different. It may have been cut. Maybe I'm just looking at it a bit differently. I'll try and post a pic.

Here is a pic of my 29 DR4. Does it look cut? Below is also pics of my Jacos Edition 30 ET I picked up. Anyone ever heard of a Jacos Edition?

I'm running a 28 et on my sleekcraft, Look at the end of the clewiston video that was posted. there is no shortage of bow lift. Are you going to run a hydraulic jack plate?

I agree. That DR4 looks like it has been cut (slightly) and thinned. From the looks in that picture.

I agree Bud. I'm hopefull it will run good.
I do run a 4" Bob's hydraulic plate. I really don't need bow lift so the ET may be up for sale soon. If the Spinelli does not run as good as my Drag IV I'll probably buy a new one. My boat LOVES the IV's!

Thanks X, what model Spinelli are you running ? I've only spun one hub, that was on a 24p Predator after about 5 yrs of hard use on my 16' Flats and Bay with a white 150 on it, didn't see a dark colored crab trap buoy runnin before daylight, unwrapped the rope, tried to get on plane and realized it was spun, ruined a good day of fishing:mad:

Looks great Steve, she's dialed in :D your trim and angle of attack looks perfect:thumbsup:, Charlie said you're running about 12" of setback or so, from what I've heard here on S&F the Sleeks need quite a bit to see the big top end numbers, I'm going to be running the 10" Bobs hydraulic that I got from Charlie, it just came back from the powder coating shop today, I had it done the same color as the Sleek will be from the rubrail down, Kawasaki 617 new lime green, I've got a few props so far, two unidentified 26p 4 blades, a 26p Trophy, a 28p Pro ET, a 29p Mazco HP4 and the Spinelli DR4 31p, also looking at a Spinelli DR4 29p, hope to find a few more before she hits the water, maybe a 30p Drag 4, Pro ET 30p, Hydromotive Quad iv, I'd like to try as many as possible at the same time, back to back comparison is always best if possible, I might have one or two for sale after all the fun of prop testing:eek: here's a few pics of the jackplate and the bike was the inspiration for the color, just something about that green and black that I couldn't resist:cool: took the bike to the paint shop to get the camera color match on Tuesday afternoon, left there, headed to the fiberglass shop to check on the progress of the Sleek, stopped at a light, got nailed from behind by a Mustang, ejected over the front of the bike, did a flip and somehow landed on my feet about three feet in front of the bike looking back at it, also still standing with its rear wheel embedded in the mangled front bumper, no damage estimate yet but the bike seems to have less than the car, I was one lucky SOB, thought I was going down for sure, just a twisted knee, sure wish someone got that on video:eek:

Flatsleek I think the ET may have too much bow lift for my ride so that 30 may be available. I'll let you know. We may be able to do a trade since your now the propwhore! :D

I've got a Blueprinted Mazco Cleaver 14 1/2 x 26 that ran reallllllllllyyyyyyyy great on my stream. I know won't run good on my Liberator. It's just sitting on the shelf in the case looking for a home. I just can't bring myself to post it. I loved that prop on the stream that I sold.

Flatsleek I run a 4 blade predator 21p on my 26' boat and use a 4 blade 28 p on my flats boat. On my boats they out perform the trophys. Good to hear they may be back in business..

I do have the same 10" bob's. I'm thinking of putting in the 2" spacers. It ran real well over the weekend with the second person in the back of the boat.
