...and could also be a leaking check valve(s) in the pump system. First thing to do is get the oil level correct. If that's not it I'd look for a bad or dirt clogged check valve thats allowing fluid to bleed even when it does manage to cycle off its seat. Then go to the seals- checking the piston seals on the cylinder if no great amount of rod leakage is visible. If you don't want to tear it down yourself, then take it into a shop that rebuilds/repairs hydraulic cylinders and pumps. Hopefully L&S used standard cylinder parts.

hey thanks doug . I noticed on the side of the pump is oil fill plug do you just fill to that plug height? also where is the check valve? i really dont see any visible leaking at all anywherebut im sure in the last 5 years ive not done a thing to this so its time. went on land and seas web site couldnt find anything hard to navigate through it too may try their phone number on pump see if they got a tech somewhere to answer some questions thanks for your help phil:thumbsup:

Phil, the usual method to fill is to run the plate down, fill to level of hole. Then you cycle the plate full up to full down a few times, ending up with it full down. Let it sit for an hour for any air bubbles to rise up, then check oil again and add oil as needed. As Dave states, L&S used various suppliers, and the check valves could either be at the pump or in the lines- or both. If in-line valves were used you can usually spot them easily, since the line will have to go in and out of the valve assembly, which looks different from a normal hydraulic fitting.

The same oil used in your engine trim pump system should work just fine.

Their maintenance bulletin indicates to use Rando HD32. That is a Texaco brand but any ISO VG 32 hydraulic fluid should work equally well.

Because of our cold azz climate up here have always used synthetic ATF. Seems to work well, much quicker on them fall mornings you can see your breath.:D

Fill, did you put a fire in that 225? With all the rain there, you should be able take it for a spin in the streets of Spokane.
