hey guys i just bought a 75 sleek craft mini day cruiser 21ft and it has the 455 olds in it. i bought the boat with a bad engine, i tore it apart and it needs a crank, one rod, machine work etc. after pricing everything and thinking about it i decided i just want to put a chevy in it and avoid all of the oiling problems and the parts look to be much cheaper and easier to find. and i found a good deal on a running 454 with bellhousing and headers all complete but no motor mounts.
my question is what else needs to be changed to accomplish this swap? would my output shaft to the pump still work? thank you.

To do an Olds/Chevy swap, you need;
Exhaust system
Driveline to fit a Chevy
Engine Mounts/bellhousing or flywheel cover.

ok so i picked up that motor and was looking at it and it looks like the rear mount isnt going to work. it has the style that looks like the bellhousing off of a transmission that is supposed to clamp around the jet. but i have a jacuzzi jet and cant see a place that it could clamp around. am i looking at it wrong?

I would think a rail kit would solve you problem..It will run inside the stringer and there will be a plate for the front of the engine and a bellhousing for the back, they both will sit down on the rail and bolt in with blocks.you can get the mount plate and bellhousing on Ebay easy.You may have to oder a rail kit or make your own.I may have a pic of one.

A rail kit would be a good way to go. Lot of work getting it set up right, even harder in a boat with closed engine area. Is yours on open engine bay or covered? Dont realy know what your boat looks like. If you choose to do a rail kit I would make some templets out of good plywood first and work with a block and crank only. It will give you more room to work in and be easier to move around. the drive line needs to be as straight as you can make it, I think they say no more than 3 or 4 degrees off true. Also leave about 1/4 inch play on the drive line, you dont want to bottom it out on the pump shaft. Once you get it to that point you can transfer the pattern to 3/8" 6061 aluminum plate with minimal adjustment. Makes for a clean mount and will help strengthen the stringers with a backup plate on the other side of the stringer from the rail.

my boat is covered but i have the cover off right now. my olds had the old school mounts that were made by hardin marine that bolted to the stringers. could i just find that style for the chevy?

I think you could just buy the mounts for a chevy. That is the simple way to do it. Cant see the motor anyway. you need to look for a 4 point mount bellhousing, here you go.
