Hi everyone, I'm about to reassemble an early 260 block and was wondering if it was worth doing the 4 bolt conversion?
The motor will be almost stock except couple tricks
- 150 psi heads
- .045'' shaved front half
- stuffed #2 pump gear cavity
Thanks for your opinions:thumbsup:

In my opinion it's not worth it with the mods you mentioned. Hope this helps.

Its all according to the mods. The 4 bolt conversion is MUCH stronger and prevents the cranks main bearings from walking... Ruck can do the job cheaper than the freight. I "glue" my crank bearings in with a locktite product # 620 that along with the 4 bolt blocks are bullet proof. The usual walking of the larger top bearing and the middle mains have been eliminated. I can remember when I first started using this product I was scoffed and laughed at on this and other boards then after a while I must have been proclaimed a "rocket scientist" as all the scoffers are now using it ....
I use it on EVERY motor I build and have been for 14 years.
Go figure !

Jay, how long do you have before that 620 takes a "set". Is it a race against time to get the front half torqued down?
Thanks, Scott

Scott ,
I'm quicker than most at assembly time but I have never had it try to set up before I place front half on and torqued. I just use a slight opaque coating on ALL the bearing block saddles ( block and front case halves ) ... I has the ability to take up .007" per side and once it sets up at disassembly you have to use a wooden mallet to break the crank out of the saddles BUT it ain't gonna walk .....

I think for my application, Loctite should be enough...
