I have been interested in installing trim tabs on my Paramount. I can't figure out how to get into the hull to put in a backing plate. If I have to cut up the hull to get in there I will forget about this project but I dont see an other way unless I mount these tabs crazy high which won't be worthwhile.

Check out the Lenco racing tabs. They are tough and I don't believe require thru bolts. On a vee hull tabs are almost required...

You might consider using "Smart Tabs". These auto adjust and work very well on V hulls. I run them on mine and set them to just slightly down and then fine tune the tension.

They aren't remotely adjustable so trimming on the fly isn't an option but once you find the sweetspot, trim response at the engine becomes much better.

Just cut 2 access holes in the floor and put a deck plate in each. If you cut them up against the transom you wont even be able to see them standing in the boat.

I have used Bennett tabs on a Seebold 25 which mount similar to LENCO, sheet metal screws into the transom. If you have a good transom and bed the mounting plate and screws with 3M 5200 you should have no problem. Be sure to get the mounting height for the actuator right, that is retracted the tab should be several degrees above level with the bottom, and about 1/4" above the bottom edge of the transom. You will love the tabs once you use them.
