Interesting. I called and spoke with the guy. He swears that Hayg took apart a Bosch pump and duplicated it. So I asked questions. Pressure delivery etc. Exact same specs as the Bosch 984. Well I have a Bosch 984. So for $70.00 Shipping included I ordered one. I'll do a comparison and post the results. Estimated delivery date is 3-16-10.

Hey $70.00 shipping included vs $205.00/$220.00 + Shipping  thats a no brainer as long as it performs and lasts.

Received the pump today. Dam quick delivery as I only ordered it on Wednesday at 1:30p.m. Looks just like a Bosch. Only thing is there was no paperwork in the package/Box etc.

My only question is what happens if this thing doesn't work, fails after 10 hrs etc??

I'm going to call fuelpumps and see what they say. Will keep posted.

OK I e-mailed the guy at fuelpumps. He quickly responded and said:

"We take care of warranty claims for up to one year so theres not a problem just give us a call". As far as the paperwork issue he appologized. He said the paperwork should have been enclosed and gave me a link to retrieve it. He said they have a new shipping guy and he would address this with him.

Bud are you going to install it in the near future? If you are running flat out and the pump quits will it hurt the motor?:eek:Gary

Yep.

For the $150 saved on that fuel pump I don't think it's worth the chance of blowing up a $5000+ powerhead. I'm sure it would be fine on that '78 Peugeot, but on a high performance Mercury...

Yes it could.
As you know, even the real Bosch pumps have a short lifespan in a high performance boat. The biggest killer of your pump is lack of adequate filtration right before the pump's inlet.

I checked with the seller of those pumps and he confirms that they are made in China. Good luck!

Ziemer and Tony both answered your question. Any pump that fails even a clogged injector can cause damage running flat out. One good reason for a fuel pressure gage. Like Tony stated lack of proper filtration before the pump is a killer to any pump.

I'm going to try this one on my engine run stand that I'm almost finished with.

OK. I messed with this pump today. IMO I would not install this pump on any of my or any one elses boats period. I'll keep it as a fuel transfer pump only. It pulls serious voltage, fluctuates and boggs under load. Other than that it has nice suction and flow until it's taxed.

Spend the xtra money for a true Bosch and have peace of mind.

A $70.00 lesson.
