I have a 2 hole CLE (steel small shaft) with a leaking prop shaft seal. Never had a CLE apart before. I understand some parts are CLE specific. Any advice here? Anyone ever used a speedy sleeve on the sealing surface of the shaft?

You may not have a shaft surface issue and won't know until you get it apart. It's most likely just a seal replacement. If it does have a shaft surface issue there are some that recommend plasma spray repair (for seal surfaces ONLY) not bearing surfaces.

I'd say dollar for dollar Plasma spray vs Good used shaft. I'd go with the good used shaft IMO. If you have a shaft surface issue contact Bernard
S&F handle Graynester. He has always had the used lower parts I have needed even for the older CLE's.

yes some parts are cle only, but they come apart the same way and you can put any juts you want in them.

Some of the older CLE case have small prop shaft "1 3/16" in them!! real old ones all have it "not 1 1/4 dia " like the newer ones, they will for the most part have a rear drain plug in the carrier (but not all of them ) i have disassembled several with fishing mota guts in them they are the same except not as hard

Thanks. I hope to get it apart in a few days.
