Trying to help a friend and have never worked on one of these. Oil line broke and it stuck #1 and #4 pistons. He want's to get it back together as a usable motor but only wants to replace what's necessary.

Since there is no removeable head, are these sleeves replacable. Can you heat a pull them like the OMC's or do you have to bore it out and slide another in.

The bearings and crank are unhurt. The mains have needle bearings with no cages, would you reuse these or do they make caged bearings? The rod bearings have cages but all the needles fell out, again, can you reuse or use new?

The center pistons still look new, can we use two Wisco's for the bad ones, will they weigh close enough to the same. I get Wisco's wholesale, but not the OEM merc ones.

The plastic drive gear on the bottom of the crank, I've heard merc has problems with this on some motors. Should I replace it, is plastic all that's available?

How do you change the lower main bearing, or would you? On my OMC's I replace the lower main everytime I take on down. It looks like the driveshaft seal ring is in the way and would have to come off also to get the bearing off.

Assembly, can you put each piston in and then the crank or do you have to install the whole rotating assembly.

He ordered a manual but it hasn't arrived so we're trying to get a head start.

your'e best off just having those two holes bored over sized. ProMarine should have the oem style pistons so you don't have to use the Wiseco forged piston. Replace the bearing that fell apart. As far as assembly, I have put them together both ways, you can get away with pistons first on a 4 banger........

Pistons go in first. Don't use wiseco in that motor. Check to make sure the sleeves are still seated into the block correctly before any machine work is done.

I can give you a FACTORY manual in PDF form that will cover that engine if you want it. Pm me your email address. Will take me a little while to compress it and load it to a host site I use. That is if you want it.
