There have been a bunch of big CC's built with 350SCI Verados and they all seem to hit a wall at 83mph. The triple 350 38 Fountain and quad 350 38 Fountain both run right at 83mph. Same with the quad 350 Deep Impact....83mph on the money. Theres a longggg thread on THT about the quad 38 Fountain. The owner added jack plates and has raised the motors wayyyy up and it just keeps going 83mph. I was thinking the huge gearcase is blowing out at 83mph. Just wondering if anyone has gone faster with a stock 350 SCI gearcase? Just seems to be the logical answer if all these boats regardless of manufacturer or total HP all hit exactly 83mph.

Have 350 Verados on my boat and spoke to Larry from Mercury Racing at the Miami Boat Show. He is the lower unit specialist for Mercury. Off the record he told me that that is about where they blow out. Nose cones might be needed. I also heard they have a sportmaster gearcase on the drawing board and are thinking about making one since all these boats are going faster than originally thought.
No one has seen any real data from the 38' Fountain on the hull truth regarding the Fountain. Not sure what he is doing.

You need to come over and go for a ride. I would really like your feedback.
