200xs air silencer/intake?

Does anyone know if a 2001 200xs should have an air silencer. The previous owner stated it never had one (he bought it used). I have a pic of a 2005 and it has one. I'm concerned about it running lean. Thanks for your help.

Are you talking the flywheel cover thingy?

Post a serial number. If it is the part I am thinking. It isn't a filter for the main air intake, but rather a flywheel cover and filter for the compresser. It wouldn't affect lean running, but would stop debris from entering the compresser.

This is a picture from a 2005. It appears that the black cover does attach to the air intake. The 2001 I purchased doesn't have this cover and I'm wondering if it is missing or not original equipment on a 2001.

You won't lean without it but as stated earlier you really need the air compressor filter. My xs has a big ( 4" ) hole just above the intake.

It probably did have it. Post a serial number and I'll let you know for sure and I'll include the part#

They all had it. part#827325A10... Double check with the dealer though.

I think they were about $180USD new
