I am converting from the Hi Perf 260 style cowl to an alien cowl in order to be able to retro fit a Simon Alternator and have some questions about the conversion.
It is my understanding that the same stainless plate that goes on the midsection can be used again with the alien cowl. Is this true?
Are there any additional gaskets needed between the midsection and the pan? I only have the old style for comparison so any tips of what is needed to convert would be helpful.
Thanks.

The base plates are not the same. One is somewhat square and the older style is teardrop shaped. IF no hole has been cut in the lower pan you likely can use it. Be careful with the Simon alternator kit as we have run into an interference problem due to the change in altenator location. A stock 280 system will fit with no problem.

Thanks Noah I thought I had read the plate was the same between them. I guess that is what I get for reading when I'm nut used to it. Looks like the conversion won't be as easy as I had hoped. :(

The plates are not the same. You will need a lower pan with a plate along with the cowl. One gasket on each side of the plate. Simple.

Thanks Brad I was hoping to get away with using my old plate. I have an after market cowl and pan on the way. I guess it is never as simple as you would like. :)

I have a brand new square plate hanging in my garage for cheap if you need one. Bought it from eagle one, and actually needed the tear drop.
