Hey guys, looking for some advice on a prop for a new 300XS going on my 21 Daytona. The motor will be on a 12" setback with a jack plate. It's a 20" sportmaster lower, brand new everything. I will be running sea star hydraulic steering.
The boat will not be doing any towing of any sort. No wake boarding, tubing, skiing, etc. I run it on the lower colorado river, between Picacho and the Imperial dam. Basically, shallow water with lots of sand bars.
I have been told that this boat will do over a 100 if propped accordingly. It's not a real priority to go over 100, but if it won't sacrifice the bottom or mid too much, then I would do it. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm looking for ideas on everything props with the 300xs in mind. Thanks in advance.

i have a 21 liberator with the 300xs. best prop for my boat was a 33p et . that will yeild 106@ 6350, light on gas by yourself. mid to high 90's with a load.

Have you had any other props on it to see the difference or sacrifice on the top vs bottom end? What does et stand for?

:iagree: I ran a drag 4 32 on my liberator with great success.
The best overall prop I ever had was a Performance Propellers Drag 4 in 30 Pitch. Great holeshot and still kept ther boat in the 90's up top.

i have ran a 28 trophy 100mph light one person. 92-94 2-3 people
25 tempest good hole shot 86 mph on top light but no much diff in speed with 3-4 people in the boat. awesome acceleration prop
26 pro et lightning awesome hole shot 92 mph on the limiter. 85-86 with heavy load.
33p et lightning 106mph light . i no longer have this prop it's sitting at the bottom of the san jacinto river...
wildman run's the drag 4's on his boats.. i tried on a long time ago and did not like it.. but that's just me.. my et had better hole shot and better acceleration.. hope this helps.

That's all good info. Atleast enough for me to have a conversation now. I just can't see myself going over 100 on a regular basis. The boat only went 70 before with the 2.5 260. Never took it over 7200 rpm and probably never really had it "out of the water" on the jack plate. Too worried about the kaboom. Of course it only ran for 17 hours. I think the faster accellerating 90 mph thing would be good for me.

the pro et from merc would be a great prop, down side to that is they have only been lasting 30-35 hrs before they become a 3 blade. mercury will stand behind them for one year but it sucks if it hits the cav plate. try a drag 4 26p it should be wright were you want to be..

Guys, how do the mazco's work on these motors. I had a mazco 24 on my 2.5, but never had anything to compare it to. I have seen on other threads that the mazcos are better for older, heavier hulls, which I guess mine would fall under.
im getting ready to cut 2 28 mazcos into Offshores for same hull have done this before owner was very pleased ,better hole shot-mid-top end

Okay, motor's on the boat (300xs, 21' Daytona). Gotta get this prop thing down. A couple people are leaning towards the new Bravo 1 XS. This is Mercury's newer version of the Bravo 1 with exhaust mods and a pro finish.
Any opinions on what the differences are between this and the drag 4's that people are talking about. Remember this boat has a sportmaster lower end and is for two people with coolers, anchor, etc. It's not a race boat. I would like to see it get into the 90's though. It on a hydraulic jack plate and set back 14".

I run a 30P Drag 4 with a Merc 250 EFI (modded close to a 300). With your stock 300 you should be able to step up to a 32P for top end, but if your not worried about going 100 MPH+ than stick with a 30P, better hole shot and still get's you to 90+ MPH.

I think i spoke to you when i was breaking in my 300xs on the lower river. What did you decide for a prop i have only tried a 26p bravo 1 And I do not think it's the right prop so I'am seeing if you have tried anything else yet because I'am in the same boat Trying to find the right prop. If you would like to try My 26P bravo 1 on your boat let me know when your going to the river Again and maybe we try to hook up i stay at Martinez lake

As a follow up to the prop. I did get the new Bravo XS 28p. The boat has a great holeshot, midrange punch is awesome and the top end is 85mph right now at 6100rpm. Some numbers have changed due to me getting used to the jack plate/trim settings. Higher jack/lower trim is working better than the opposite. I think I should probably go with a 29p version of this prop. I may switch it out later on.

You were getting 70 with the 260? I am getting 73 with a 26" offshore on a 200xri thats getting tired on a 21 ft kevlar hull Daytona . I'm looking for a 260 or 280, having a hard time spending over 2 times the money for a 300 xs though it would be nice.

It had a 24 Mazco on it, so it wasn't exactly set up to run high numbers I guess. The 300xs pushes it around much better.

That new 300xs has so much more torque and a differance in gear ratio you need to pitch to at least 30 and the four blade has more holeshot!!

Yeah, I just ordered a 29P for it. That will get it to 95 and still have loads of acceleration and I could still ski if I wanted to. What I really want is to run 85mph below 6k on the rpm. That will be optimal for me.
