i guess it would depend on your application, i bought a new cle gear case about 10 years ago for my allison and shortly thereafter sent it to bobs and had them put a nosecone on it , cut the skeg ,and add a torque tamer. it was money well spent for my application. the way the boat drives and handles at speed is night and day difference. hope this helps

bassracr before and after what were the issues you were having with the cle and what did it do after i have a cle on my boat now and was not impressed with it in thinking my torque master was the better unit but i needed the low water p/u

before. alot of torque on the wheel. much more effort to stay balanced on the pad. harder to drive. after: MUCH less torque on the steering wheel . easier to keep balanced on the pad and drive at speed. I told them what boat I had and they set it up accordingly. they also lowered the center point of the cone slightly when they mounted it on the case. this all added up to a much better driving and handling boat and made it a pleasure to drive at speed. i may have picked up a couple mph. in good conditions i feel like i can run it wide open for as long as i want to (miles) i love the way the boat drives after the work they did.
