I have a 1998 225promax on a 20 foot bullet boat runs good with a light load but with all my fishing stuff it slows down terrible. Will cutting the heads and a computer reprogram help the torque on this motor. And what is factory cc on stock heads..

Yes it will help the torque and the hole shot and help you move big loads. Its not uncommon to pick up a couple on the big end too..Your stock CC is 38 we cut them to 34 CC with a 44 series head gasket to yield 145 lbs cranking compression at sea level its also according to where you live ( Temp., Altitude, as well as humidity ) I cut two sets today for 225 Pro Max on bass boats...

Jay is correct. You may also want to look at your engine height and prop. Those two aspects of your setup can effect your weight carrying abilities.

Just a thought but wonder if being a 1998 motor has it been rebuilt and if not what about a leak down test...? Compression may show good but if its not effective then it will show on the topend...?
BTW I run a Bullet 20XDC w/225 Promax/Sportmaster and with full load & partner I dont see but a 2-3mph drop in speed...?
