If you can hit the rev limiter you might try a 28 trophy. Changing gear ratio's is very expensive part-wise and best left to a pro. I have a similar setup but unfortunately a torquemaster gearcase.

The only think I would trade is the Sporty for a Torquemaster. Your not going fast enough and carrying too much weight to utilize the engine height the Sporty needs to reduce the drag of the super long gearcase. How far below the pad are you running the Trophy? If your even 1/2" below or more you don't need the Sportmaster. They need to be run even or above the pad to be effective. A Torquemaster with 1.75's at about 2" below the pad is a good place to start with a Gambler. The Promax needs to spin about 6800 on top to be happy. Adjust prop pitch and engine height as necessary to peak at top rpms and still carry the load. You should be around 80-85 light and 75 loaded to fish. The Trophy is a great fishing prop.

And I just happen to have a Torquemaster with only 36 hrs on it that I would be willing to trade.....

No he has a 2.5 Promax which won't fit your 3L. I have a 2.5 CLE which would work good as it's still 1.87 gears and has a much shorter case. You can run this lower and still have low water pickup. I'd trade you with some cash if interested. Search around first and get some other opinions. I'm confident the sporty is hurting your performance. Try the guys on www.fastbass.com They know what they are talking about.
