I don't know how many of you still use jon boats, but I figured I would start a thread in case anyone else wants to join the club.

Mine is a late 60's 14ft Aerocraft with a 1961 10hp Evinrude. With a gnawrly prop I get 21mph with just me, 4 gallons of gas, and the necessary safety equipment. The boat alone weighs just 110lbs.

My current setup is with a 1980 15hp Evinrude with 4.5" setback, and a newly reworked 9.5x10 prop. Same weight setup my max is 29.6mph.:reddevil: I found another 9.5x10 prop that im gonna get reworked to 13 pitch to bring down the rpms a little and bump up the top end. My youtube video is being uploaded right now so I'll post that soon.

Go ahead and post those aluminums (fiberglass jons are allowed too).

Kobie...any pics of your motor height? Is that motor a 20in?
That is one heck of a holeshot for a motor so far up there.

I'll try to get some pictures soon, once I get the boat back on the trailer. Yes the motor is a 20" longshaft, Im using a th marine mini-jacker with 2 aluminum bars to get it up the extra 2-3". I use some wooden shims on top of the plate raise/lower depending on water conditions. Usually the plate is dead even with the bottom, however the higher I go the more the boat starts to chine walk and hook on turns. I've always wondered if the boat would be any faster without the plate and a shortshaft; do you think it would be faster or slower?

TOP NOTCH BOATS. I've had the pleasure of riding in several of them from an 18' to the larger commercial boats some of the local oilfield companies use down in the Marsh running rigs. High quality lifetime boats. Hey Martin, could you crimp a hull into something similar to...... ohh let's just say an efficient high performance hull???
