A friend of mine snagged this, 'thinks' it might have been build by Wilbur McDonald in the Seattle area in the late fifties and is hoping to learn if this is a possibility or not. Its in WA now..
Note that it it looks similar to the Cab overs as seen in this attached link.

Looks like a sister to this one:

Yours has a Konig throttle that suggests it was run in the alcohol burning class
It may be a MacDonald, Charlie Williams or Craig Fjarlie would probably be the ones to ask. Pretty sure Hu Entrop drove one just like it with a KG9H or Mark40H before he built the bigger boats for the 6 cylinders and V-4's
The boat in the attachment is supposed to be a MacDonald, looks much the same

Thanks the chime in..knew ya might have some info..Heres a little more he sent me..
" did find time to snag a new toy.
May never launch it, but WTF.
It was designed and build by the same guy that designed and built a very similar hydro that ran on Lake Washington in 1958 powered by a Mark75H to the world record speed of 107 MPH.
I have not confirmed that Wilbur McDonald built my hydro, and currently I'm waiting for an opinion from his son, but she sure looks similar to me.
I used to have a short video of the hydro in question, but managed to loose it I guess."
I'm stopping over there next Tuesday, take a look, and take some more pix. He says dunno if a launch or not, but he's got a crapload old Mercs, and know him too well...it will get wet sometime, with something...
Just wanted to put the word out, he's stacked boats now, but does a lot of flipping.
I can't imagine a 75 on the azz...gotta be a REAL grin...:eek::thumbsup:

OK, here's the deal ... the guy who set the record was Entrop and he built the boat that set the 107 record, but I don't think he built the boats we are looking at today. MacDonald built one or two of the boats Entrop used later and the Starflite OMC record setting boats. After looking at a couple more pictures, I'm pretty sure the boat that started this thread is a MacDonald. The way the afterplane extends behind the motor and the way the cowling extends behind the transom agree with Entrop's later MacDonald.
Pretty sure Entrop didn't have a son, and I know MacDonald had a daughter who has been asking about his stuff around here. If he had a son that knew stuff, you'd think his daughter could just ask her brother instead of us.
I don't know if these were ever raced with a 75, that may just be there for show. All the pictures I have of these are being run with souped up 40's.

Actually both of my brothers have good info, but they were in the military in the late 60's to mid 70's, so they weren't around for some of it.
