Anyone know anything about them? How do they run? Any issues? Does it take a lot of power to make them run well? They seem to look like a Skater are they?

Guy around the corner from me about 20 years ago had one with a SBC IO. Pretty much fire wood. The deck was peeling off but the guy thought he had a gold mine. I didn't even bother to give it a good looking over.

Some info on here if you use the search.

For power I'm sure you would want at least a 300 :D

Post a pic.

Are you looking at the one on ebay ? It looks to be in nice shape ,I seen one running up in michigan when I was still there with a single 280 efi merc and it was running heavy and strong !

The only thing i seen is that the keel is pretty flat and wide , it might not be the best in heavy water and maybe a little slippery on the big end with the right power. I would take it if I did not have so many projects already.

I have been accused of being somewhat partial to Jones boats - but

I am just about finished with my 20'. Rigged it with twin 2.5 ProMaxs engines and it ran 102. I added a center sponson which did not seem to effect the rough water handling but eliminated the 50 to 75 hopping that all full tunnel boats have.

The paint should happen shortly, then a new interior, then re-rig, then start on another one.

Hopefully Mercdrag2.5 will chime in here soon. They own the 21' Jones in Michigan called "Thrasher". The boat runs extremely well for a single engine 21' tunnel. They've had a 260, 280, and even a Drag (all 15" mids) hanging on the transom. I believe the top speed with the drag was 103mph:thumbsup:.

Now that's not the boat that you were implying was going to accelerate at over 20mph/sec is it ? Cuz you're a long way off that mark. :D

This is what 20+mph/sec looks like,

Better add a serious amount of nitrous

I have no idea how 20mph/sec came into play with my wife's lake boat but you can be sure I can dig something out of the shop set up for some play time.

Here is what the bottom looks like after the addition of the center sponson.

That was your comment from a discussion a while back.
You said, "If my boat was only accelerating at 20 mph / sec I would be looking for something wrong"

Hello All!

Wanted to take a minute to introduce myself on this thread. I have recently purchased this boat, and weather permitting will pick it up from NJ this weekend to bring back down south.

This will be my first outboard, I have owned vdrives and your average cruisers in the past, figured it was time to step it up a notch and see what trouble I could get into with this thing!

I've been reading post on here for quite some time now, but since I have been out of boating for a while I never joined...figured no better time than now:thumbsup:

I first want to apoligize ahead of time for the onslaught of questions that I will more than likely post here, this will be quite a project, and frankly Im your ultimate noob and will be more than likely lost on somethings. I have seen how tight knit of a community this is and look forward to meeting some new friends.

Here's to 5 o'clock , hope to see everyone out on the water soon enough!

Glad to see it go to a good home.

I just finished the last of the deck glass work on my wife's 20 and it will be headed to the paint booth shortly.

If I can be of any help, let me know.

Good deal, as soon as I get it down here I'm sure I will start picking your brain! How long have you been down in SC? Im originally from Lexington but have moved up to Lake Wylie for my job in Charlotte. During the summer I spend most of my weekend back on Murray, but I may begin to split it up and head out on Wylie to save on fuel and time.
