I haven't restored the hull...or even built the motor yet. I hope to get 70 mph with a lightened 650XS. (12" mid w/ through transom trim) Yes, I know it would be easier with an OMC 3 cyl (too heavy).
I'd like to try a chopper, std cleaver, and through-hub round ear cleaver and would like to start looking for decent deals on a versatile prop to start with.
If set it up with a removable tandem seat, would a through hub be better choice?
What are some good prop pitches to start looking for?

I run a 15 Ft G.W. Invader with a 1500xs spinning a 26 chopper at 6400 77.2 on GPS. Play with props till you find one you like I want to try a couple of cleavors this summer. I would think anything in the 22-26 pitch should work for you.
John Tiger Jr. just did a 15 Ft Allison, do a search for it and be prepared to be impressed !!

My brother had a 15 ally over here, 90 yamaha jacked to the moon 24 chopper 65mph stock motor with rev limiter still attached, it was the 15 ally bert hinds brought over to make the molds for the tennessee, was crashed and had three times as much glass in the deck(heavier) the chopper was over hub exhaust tim

I'm guessing that a 19 or 21 inch thru hub cleaver would be little too much prop for the (temporary) stock 70 hp, but might work okay once I get a 650XS. I was also thinking that the 15 allison doesn't need the bow lift of a chopper.

on my brothers he used to run it high, the chopper was ok, tried one of my ron hill cleaver's, theory being stern lift from a cleaver didnt like the runnin attitude yet on my aus bullet the cleaver was the goods and didnt like the chopper, id sugest you are going to do the prop thingy swapy testy to find what works for you, tim

Merc made thru hub cleavers for that motor, 18-22"
I've seen very few round ears for the 3 cyl Merc, but they exist.
