Hi iam julio tomatis from lima-peru (south america) i rebuilding a 26 year old stoker tunnel , its a grate boat very handling.
the old motor is 200hp 1980 merc and i am going to put a 2005 280 hp offshore merc.
the problem is that i found that the early motor was mounted wrong is not
on the center line of the boat . is 1/2 inch to the left and both holes of
the left are 1/8 up. the boat work fine with this bad set up 26 years,
but without to much power. now i am restoring the complete boat
with 5 1/2 set back and a lot of grate things and removed some weight.
the problem is that the summer season start some days ago and i want to
do some test. i think the only solution is a new transom but is a lot of hard work. ni think is work for the winter season.
well, please share with me some ideas and advises.

Thought

Maybe its moved to the left on Purpose... to Offset the Rotational
lift created on that side by a spinning Propeller.

another idea inline with above me.

have you tryed to contact stoker (johns custom marine) he may remember the boat and may able to tell you. about the hull. maybe the motor was put there one purpose. acking as a couter weight for a single man left hand drive race boat race boat.

also ask stoker about the off set. his world to me personal about offsets were to fix the manufactures **** ups. lol

just my thoughts.

thanks for the thoughts, my grandfather bought the boat directly form stoker without
motor, the motor was installed here in peru by my uncle, maybe under some advise if there is setup porpose for the misaling holes in the transom, maybe without any
advise. the mercury installation manual dictates outboard holes in the centerline of the transom. anyway i will try to ask stoker about this subject. i will tell you if is some porpose.

thanks
