Any 2 componant automotive product will work as long as the boat is not submerged (in the water) for more then 500 hours at one time.. I use Akzonobel Sikkens Automotive products.

I would like to see the results on that test? Ok it only made it 501 we Are screwed...lmao

I would use gel coat with clear duratec addtive. Paint of any form will chip and or be worn off during trailering. It is still just paint.

Hope this helps.

Bottoms up... Have you had good luck with the dura tek clear additive? I used it and had not so good results. Whats the procedure yer using? Problem I had was, when the gell (green color) got wet it lightened the color slightly on the bottom... Also had a crap load of shrinkage when exposed to the sun the first time...Whole hull was perfect, got hot, then showed print thru everywhere... It cured for a week before exposure.. I have gone back to the old straight gell thinned with styrene, wax added last coat, method...

when i did my ally xr 2002 i used dupont ms 600, i am impressed w/ the durability of the paint, easy to apply, never buffed it out and it looks great, painted the hull and all, boat is not left in the water for any length of time, use awlgrip 545 series primer underneath, and this stuff is marine paint and the price was very reasonable

A good name brand paint like PPG or DUPONT in an epoxy base is extremely durable and can be left submerged for quite a while. My brother painted his Varmint with a whit epoxy based paint and when he got rid of it , still looked awesome. We painted my uncles fiberglass bottom houseboat witha tan epoxy based paint 4 years ago. It only comes out of the water once a year to have bottom cleaned and inspected. Was just out of the water 2 months ago. Still looks great . Hydro
