Quick question for the more experienced, what gives better mileage;
1. 2.4 BP stock injection, no mods.
2. 2.5 260, no mods.
3. 2.5 225 PM , I've never owned one, but they look much more complicated.
I do understand that it's a lot more complicated than I'm making it, and there are a lot of factors at work. So we'll assume mid, foot, and gears are the same, and each one is prop'd for best RPM cursing. Looking at running mid distances 6-10 miles or so, and occasionally pulling a skier. Thanks in advance.

225 Pro Max hands down.

I guess I should also ask, which is the worst?
"Hands down", would you say 10% better, 20%, 30%?

225 promax almost 50% better than 260 at cruising speed. at least that's what i found on an allison xb2002. 6mph with the promax and 4mpg with the 260.

all 3 suck..... if youwant fuel milege look to the dfi motors.... but of your 3 listed
order from best to worst
225PM (or any other laser injected motor)
260 (believe it or not the behind the liner induction is more efficient than piston port)
2.4 BP
but if you werent overly concerned about sacrificing speed for range and cruise speed id go 175 PRO XS or 2.5XS or 200XS opti...... the 175 ive seen as high as 9 or 10 MPG
which would be roughly 250% better cruise than a 2.4 200% or more better than a 260 and atleast 150% better than the 225 PM

I'd be really happy with any of those three, but they're not in my price range.(yes, I'm that cheap). I guess I'll just keep looking and hope one comes alone at a good price.
As a follow up question, how are the average running and maintenance costs, of the DFI's vs. the other 3.
I'm pretty sure I can service a BP or 260 myself, the PM scares me a little, the Opti's have way too many wires for me.
Thanks all for the advise.

the difference between the 260 and a 225 is only in the "look" of the fuel system... so if you think you can service a 260 then you should have no issue servicing a 225..... the added parts are related to the integrated fuel pump, larger charging system, generally integrated trim system, and oil injection.
as for DFI their systems are generally far more reliable than the motors you mentioned above, and with 5 years of warranty on new means you dont have to worry about working on it.

with a properly-adjusted Brucato PCU will be roughly the same.
