Hello, I have a mint 92 2.1 lower housing. I am running a 94 1.87 lower on my current motor. I hit a rock pretty good coming off plane and took a good chunk out of the front of the skeg as well as bent it about 1/2" to one side. These are stock lower units, can I swap internals from the 1.87 to the 2.1s housing? The 2.1 lost a few teeth on the small drive shaft gear and everything else looks fine but dont want to take a chance on rebuilding it. I am hopeing I can just swap the parts over. Thanks

make sure all your lash and pinion height are correct when your sticking the 1.87 back in the 2.1 case thats what makes um live or die P.S. changing Forward gear races is no big deal but when its pulled out it most likly destroy the shims so mic them and put the same amount that came out of the case your wanting to keep chances are they will be close pinion height same deal keep up with the shims its not rocket science but some knowledge is required on how to do it:cheers:

Thanks for the info. Is it possible to straighten the skeg out? I could clean up the leading edge and not lose much material, but the bend would need to be straightened. Its kind of rolled to one side with an even bend, not abrupt but I would say its about 1/2" off from straight up and down.

with removing a small amount of the leading edge just like you said blended back in to it the bend looks worse then they are i have straightened out some pretty bad ones with some heat and BBH ( BIG Bad Hammer) if you dont get carried away you will be Ok:iagree::iagree:
