i wouldnt bother ,you carnt adjust the efi ,[disconecting the air temp will give you 10%]but it will run lean on the bottom cyclinders and stick.deck the heads ,put in some good carbon reeds ,disconnect the air temp sender, set the timing to 25 and leave it at that ,if you need more buy a race engine, just words from my experience with those motors.

Forget the porting ,what id call stage 1 mods ,145 compression, send ecu to Brucatto 6400 rpm limit , do a search on reeds , maybe a Lw flywheel,Bobs lwp nose cone if you going over 75mph ,and most importantly a good prop and set the engine height .Check your leakdown before you do anything .

I think? (pretty sure?) the 03's have the 5800 rpm limited cdm's? The ECU has no limit built in.

not sure about the ecu either, get in touch w/ eric simon on here(supporting vendor), he does computer programming and will know about the cdms, also have eric clean your injectors while its apart,if you do have to have the rev limit raised then you can also have him add some fuel to for your modifications, add a set of tdr reeds, i believe eric also can mill your o ringed heads for higher compression, if not jay smith can probably do it

I have 1 of those motors that was worked lately ( 200 EFI 1993 ) . The ECU IS the weak link and a loose cannon with a die grinder will make the motor so that the ECU can't lengthen the duration time of the injector pulse so it wouldn't run lean... I cleaned up the rear of the back side of the port ( not touching the port heights) and simply took all the "BOOGERS" of the flows ( intake and exhaust ) went to 140 lbs cranking @ sea level and customer is using ACES ( TK-7 ) should see some modest ( safe ) gains ... I have 4 225 Pro Maxs and 1 225 Pro Max X that getting the same treatment..Is this an "O" ring headed motor ? Where the piston at TDC is below the deck height .044" to form squich? If so the port mapping info will be incorrect unless you take that into consideration...
( IMO stay away from the port mapping unless, your planning on running a lighter Specific Gravity higher octane racing fuel , the OEM ECU is modified OR a Brucato ACU is added )
Good luck,
Jay

Thanks for the replies but i misinformed you guys sorry, it is the same motor as described. The only efi thing about it is the long block assembly. I installed carbs on this unit, timing is 24deg,high compression head gaskets from pro marine (844r1 1mm thick), exhaust cavity cut, tunner mod, midsection exhaust mod, boyseen reeds, bobs low water, manual jack, promarine 8000+ stator (5456-s15) running aviatioin fuel with a 32:1 mix merc preium oil, electric fuel pump around 10psi,motor runs 7400rpm at 93mph 3 blade 28p merc surface prop like i said it runs real nice i just want more maybe 7800-8000 rpm???
