What's it refering to when we say 60 degree block. Is the angle of separation (for lack of better words) between the port and stbd banks or is it the degrees of separation between TDC?

Thanks,

Steve

It is the angle of the "V" that is made if you drew straight lines out of the port and starboard cylinders.

Knew I could count on you!... Thanks... it's also TDC and the Merc manual leads you to belive that's what they're saying. I just re-read it twice then read it word for word in the literal sense and it say's what you say.

Hey, need a set of 8666/7 std 175 2.0L pistons?

I just missed a set of 18787 C2 heads by 5 seconds on eBay. They went for 102.00 but I got the block for 269.00 to the door. The guy I beat out on the block hit my flank and got the heads. Dang this is fun.... thanks for headin me in this direction a while back..

I have always been taught it the angle that the "v" makes if drawing imaginary lines.

Are you asking if I need a set of pistons??? Those are standard bottom guided pistons and will fit any of the 2.0L up to 91. ON up if you CORRECTLY swap cranks to have the bottom support or vice versa you can use top guided pistons and rods in the early block with no crank swap. I was going to put a 2.5 crank in a 2.4 I built the other day until I realized there was no support for the rod on the crank journal.....So I put a 2.4 crank I had in it.

Re the pistons, I just checked them really close and they've got aluminum deposits in the ring lands and loose pins. You're welcome to them if you want them for paper weights or novelty ash trays.

Re the crank. I've asked that question a dozen times and never seem to get the same answer twice.

The crank for a bottom guided rod has sholdered journals correct? I'm going with top guided rods and looking for a crank right now. Problem is nobody on eBay seems to be able to tell which crank they're selling.

Can you tell by the number of sealing rings? The bgr cranks that I've seen seem to use 7 rings where the tgr cranks seem to have 8.. I think... just swag'n that really.

Ha, I can see it now, a half dozen cranks arriving at my door because I don't know my butt from a hole in the ground and with my luck they'd all be wrong... FYI the blocks a 94 and the original rods were 41's (tgr). The 41's are on the way.
