30-32 pitch, hydromotive 4 blade, large barrel or exhaust ring, same pitch 4 blade, performance propeller e.t. cut, Throttle up 4 blade,30-32 pitch. Merc 4 blade cleaver 32 pitch. And if you want to go light for top end then a 34 pitch in each..

I've got a Cougar 22 MTR which is I believe quite similar to the talon 22. Power is a 300x. I have tried quite a few props and have had the best sucess with a 28"bravo I 4 blade. With the 1:62 sportmaster gearcase I can tweek it out to about 67-6800 rpm . I have had BBlades lab the prop and remove the difuser ring.
The Bravo is a large diameter (15.25) and leaves a lot of blade in the water when you trim it out.

Thanks for the replys the gearbox ratio is 1:75 at the moment running a 27 tempest
about 80mph gps at full rpm 6250 ,i do have a 30 pro ET but doesnt seem to work as well as the tempest takes ages to winder out,but
i get around late 88/90mph 6250rpm after 3miles she seems very slow getting there,i use a detwiler jack plate ,how high should i run
the motor, at the moment running prop shaft 1'1/4 up, say from the base of the tunnels.

I did'nt realize that there was such a difference in maximum rpm between the 300x and xs. And with the 1:78 gears you will need more prop still. A 32 will be pretty slow to wind up, 30 I think might be as big as you'd want to go. As far as engine height, I run mine as high as it will go before losing water pressure. The tempest i don't think likes to be that exposed, the hydromotive would be a good prop though a bravo 30 would perhaps work as well.
Best of luck

The hydromotive prop will excellerate faster than the bravo,15'' is probally the largest diamiter and still have good excelleration, get the diamiter cut down to 15''. If you get 1.62 gears it will def excellerate slower if you use the same pitch, 1.62 gears seem to work better with lighter boats, if you change gear ratios you will be real dissapointed unless you drop down drastically in pitch. how much does this boat weigh?

The boat was made for two motors was never set up with two 650kilos
hull with the motor and gear around 1 ton ,i have a 120litre rear tank 100litre centre i do not use,the boat is used for poker runs here in australia for poker runs australia, just revamp the talon with all new gear its 2006 model very long story goes with this boat ,will be setting the boat up with another motor to run twin 300xs but in a couple of years, spent to much on the boat as it is ,one motor will do at the moment it runs very balanced you can see some photos on my facebook under leon dalton
i used to run an F1 TUNNEL here in western australia call torquespeed racing two years ago,i havent had much to do with hydromotive props but will look into it do you have a model ref for the type of prop in the hydromotive range

I thought the 300xs with a 20 inch mid max rpm was 6450 , ? It has max rpm on the saddle. the Pitch is good if you making the speed you want. removing some Dia from the prop will help you get there faster .I would recommend cutting down the dia of the prop
