Post up some pics... Most comp. boats have the C.G. capacity plate that states the boat was intended for racing only.

or someone did a very good job replicating the exact seatbox/torque bridge and stringer setup on a comp Vector. I would say it's 99% likely that it's a competition model.
The CG plate on comp HydroStreams was different than the "pleasure" versions in that they did designate the comp status. The serial numbers (as far as I know...very early models could be different) did not designate a comp vs. a production hull.

i know for a fact that the pictured one (mine) is a comp know a couple guys that know the boat and know who bought it new so not worried bout this one but like i said my buddy is looking at one and was told it was in the 600-650lbs range so idk if it is rotten or not a comp
thanks for the info:thumbsup:

That looks like Hydrostreams comp lay out. I havent seen what Schramers Comp Vector looks like inside but Streamin101 has a comp Ventura and it the same as yours. Four thin stringers, basically the same seat box and that sub floor thing under the bow. Streamins Ventura also has a full core and the deck is lighter and i thought had 2X4's glassed to the under side for strength. It's actaully pretty tough boat though...

IMO if it is 600 plus pounds it is not a comp. Just my non expert opinion :D

most don't weigh what they're advertised to weigh. a sub-400 lb. boat is paper thin. When Mod-VP was really "MOD-VP", the top contenders built 400-lb. boats...that generally lasted a season or less. That's why most of them are gone.

Beef, wait till you push on the deck, lol, it'll almost hold up a sea gull :D
The original owner said the deck looked like a flag blowin in the wind at 100mph :reddevil:
Your's weighed 420 lbs when built and the bottom was trued by the 2nd owner so it's a lil heavier now. The seat was offset for torque for a nitrous motor

The Comp Vector that I had in the '70's was stiff enough that you could walk on the deck, while the recent one was paper thin on top, so maybe ole' Howard would lay em up different ways depending on customer preference. My old '70's boat had the to of the upper wings cut off (where the rear of the windshield support would mount) and was decked over solid. It was black. I'd sure like to know where it went if anybody ever runs across it. Somebody saw it around Atlanta about 10 or 12 yrs ago and the clown selling it was swearing it was a one off factory prototype, but it was actually a Georgia backyard hack job..........although the fact that it would pass as factory done was flattering to our workmanship.:D

All the comp boats had stringers like the white one earlier in this thread. Even with a floor, they're hard to hide. I'm not but about 10 miles from Eatonton. I'd like to see it sometime. HalfFast runs Chris Justice Marine out close to the Pyramid. If you don't know him you oughta'.;)

Hey Drew,
I'm gonna put one vote for (not a Comp)
do to the fact If you look a a true Comp the stringer are normally
spread out evenly thou-out the floor and then tied in with at least
a cross rib or two... Take Beef's comp for Example:
1)Notice the spacing on the bottom two stringer
Your spacing is like mine (close) Non-comp
2) two upper stringers were diffentaly an after thought
and were done w/ 2x4's in stead of 1x's
3) no where am I seeing were the stringers are tied together
from side to side, With that being said I would imagine the boat does alot
of twisting unless, there is alot glass in the bottom,
but I would think if it were a comp with no cross strength it would twist
and break... Notice Beef's cross rib is under the front seat, it ties the the outer
stinger to the inner stringers and to the floor, thus keeps the boat from twisting
But I've been wronge before...JMHO!!!

:iagree: with all the above and it looks cored (although some comps were cored most were not). Easiest way to tell if its a comp or not is put your beer on the dash, if the dash sags its a comp or make a 90+mph pass and if the deck waves like a flag in the wind... well you get it
still doesnt mean its a bad boat, at 600 rigged it would still be a fun ride. i would just put some cross braces between the stringers and make sure you dont pay for a "comp" if its not:thumbsup:

That transom looks ugly!
If they had to band-aid it like that I'd be second guessing the transom. It is probably strong but if the transom was done right they wouldnt have needed that ugly band-aid glass repair. :nonod: As for what its worth, i dono.. I know what it would have to be for me to buy it :nonod: :leaving:
Drew- u need to come drive the action before you get into a light vector! Your not gonna jump in the action and stick it on the mat within the first 8 hrs your in it. The action is 10X EASIER TO DRIVE THEN A LIGHT VECTOR  Think about it like that, its not the tunnel boats ur used to ;)

Would not say too much, hull and trailer <$1500 JMO
I would say its heavier than 600 rigged as well, but could be wronge...
(beleave me 600lbs comes up quick):reddevil:
The one Jacob has is a Comp. the only problem is,
is it's been out in the elements too long and probley needs
a complete rebuild (stingers,& transome) then you got to figure out
how the fix the deck stress cracks everywhere, do to it being such a light
lay up,It can be fixed but more glass will need to be added for strength plus fresh paint gel or whatever for color... After fixing it to make it lake worthy, you will still have a comp boat but unfortunatly it will weigh as much as a standard lay up boat!!!! JMO:thumbsup:

I thing 1-1500 on trailer with the transom painted is fair for it.
as for jacobs comp, Even if you laid some light glass over the whole deck to hide the stress cracks like alaskastreamin did on his viper it would still be a lighter then a regular boat but it does need complete restoration:eek:

It definitely needs stringer as stated in my ad and the transom.....well we'll leave that up to the buyers discretion. I have described the boat very well in my ad, and I am open to questions and more pictures. IMO it would be almost too much work to try and "fix" the stress cracks on the deck, I was just gonna light sand and throw some paint on it.:cheers:

Jacob how much you looking to get boat and trailer?
Jacob
01-07-2010, 01:09 PM
I'll split it down the middle-- $1000.00 boat and trailer or $1000.00 complete engine. Guys, every person that has looked at this thing has told me they were expecting it to be in worst condition due to my description. I AM NOT HIDING ANYTHING. It is exactly as described and if you read my ad you can plainly see I didn't "sugar coat" anything. I hate to let it go but tooo other projects going on right now. The hull and pad are in very good shape for a 25 year old boat. Not perfect but no gouges and it is clean and slick with a good shine. It seems a few people have assumptions about this boat but have never seen it. This boat is cosmetically challenged :D but structurally just needs a little tlc. If you want a LIGHT FAST hull this is it, if you want a ready to run show boat....look elsewhere.:cheers::cheers:

I can't say at this point, but it'll be showin' up soon. I've got SEVERE seller's anxiety over it. My storage crisis is severe now. One of the building that I keep some of my stuff in is leased instead of me owning it, and it's been under contract for a future Kroger Superstore development for about 6 months, and I could have to move at any time now with 60 days notice. The building still houses 2 of my old boats and 11 cars, and I've got NOTHING available to replace it within any reasonable rent factor. Even with shuffling stuff around, I was at the point of having to put the 'Stream outside under a boat cover along with several cars, or liquidating some stuff. The 'Stream, being the latest aquisition made the most sense, ESPECIALLY since I had the opportunity to put it up for adoption with a VERY good home.

Jeeze Drew, don't get that started on this thread............ it'll turn into a 5 page debate like all the other times the subject comes up. Go find the recent thread that says Viper Hook, the truth, and read it. http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204921
Hook debates are almost as bad as 2 stroke oil and magic tuners and reeds that give ungodly speed increases.;)
