Since it's winter up here and most of the boats are hibernating, here's a couple of cool vids...

:eek::eek::eek:

I can't believe how close (and fast) the yellow boat came to the men in the water, that is really bad...

:confused::confused: $350,000 80mph, 600 hp  what makes it so expensive, some the boats on Scream and Fly blow it away to me, Phil's race boat was 1200 hp, I don't get it, just because it's made by Porshe??? that kind of boat doesn't impress me at all...now give me a smart man who knows engines and can design and build a 1200 hp motor by himself, now that will impress me!

a little more info:

The motor is a Nissan VH45DE. The VH45 is an all aluminum 4.5L DOHC V8 with VVT that came in the `89-`96 USDM Infiniti Q45 591.78 horsepower (international) at 11,600 RPM? and 289.32 lb*ft torque at 9,200 RPM

Yeah that Porshe Boat was nothing special, the guys who made them had one on consignment to a dealer I was selling boats for because we were a Donzi dealer, the hull was built by Donzi, it was just "designed" by a guy who designed Porshe's, nothing special, the 1st one was out east here on the island for a demo infront of a bunch of wealthy people in Sag Harbor or Amagansett, I cant remember it was a few years back, and the guy running the boat slammed it in reverse to fast and with the design of the back deck it acted as a scoop and swamped the boat and sank it infront of tons of prospective buyers. The company Fearless Marine has high hopes of selling some big money boats, a 44 for 2.5 mil & a 60 something for in the 10's of mill....IMO they should re think all this, if theyre not in chapter 11 already....

Thanks, I should have worded it differently. I meant the whole set up. Do you have a link on the boat other than the U-Tube link?

Thanks again

a little more info...I am still trying to dig up more on that particular engine.

Nissan Infinity VH45 V8. Low Ks. Lowered Reserve.
No reserve Closed: Sat 7 Jun 2008, 8:25 am
Listing #: 158152613

LOWERED RESERVE TO $1705.00 same as VH45 just sold by Powerparts (Trademe 156564317).
This engine for auction has had the timing chain guides replaced (expensive must do) and has less Ks.

I purchased this engine for a boat project which will not now be going ahead. It has had the bores fogged with oil and oil in the sump.

It is a full front cut, with complete loom, all computers etc, odometer with only 83428ks, radiator etc etc etc. Does not include auto transmission. The only weakness with these engines is the timing chain guides. This engine has had the guides replaced so is ready to go.

The VH45DE generates 278 hp (207 kW) at 6000 rpm and 292 lbft (396 Nm) at 4000 rpm with a redline of 6900 rpm.

Some of the features of the VH45DE are:

- Forged steel crankshaft.
- Forged steel connecting rods.
- 6 Bolt main bearing caps with studs.
- Full-length main bearing bearing.
- Lightweight, floating pistons with molybdenum coating.
- Sodium-filled exhaust valves.
- Cross-flow cooling system.
- Hydraulic lash adjusters.
- Single-row silent timing chain.
- Coil-on-plug ignition system.
- Roller rocker arms for reduced friction.
- Variable Valve Timing.
- Redline of 6900 rpm.
- Compression ratio of 10.2 to 1.
- Bore of 93 mm and stroke of 82.7 mm.
- Dimensions: 890 mm(L) x 740 mm(W) x 725 mm(H).

These engines are being used in race boats and with twin turbos are putting out a reliable 1000hp. See YouTube - VH45 twin turbo boat.

For collection I can organise an engine hoist. Engine stand in photo is not included in the auction but may be purchased if needed.

When comparing this engine with other VH45's check into the cost of having the timing chain guides replaced. This is not cheap and is considered a "must do" by those that know these engines well.

These are a perfect repower for Nissan Safari 4x4.
