optimax Vs Pro XS

Hi, all i have a question what is the big different between the two beside the price and the fuel . i looked over the the Specifications of the two engine and there is no to much different in the HP power rating and the weight. but the price different is huge. i want to buy two engine for my 28 skater. any help or recommendation before i go and buy. since the two engine rev 6000 rpm and both have the same gear ratio. i mean is there going to be a big different in performance wise. :cheers: because the XS are ridiculous expansive almost the double!! :eek:

hmmm.... where i am from they sell the 250XS for almost 16500 and the 250 optimax for around 11000...but my qustion was is their any real different in the performance??

I just came from opti tech school and we did go over all the changes for 09/10.

All 250hp powerheade are the same. STD fishing motors will come with rubber mounts andverado style gearcase.

Pro xs motors will come with a longer warranty , solid mounts and. VerAdo style gearcase. No option for sportmaster case or HD mid.

250 xs motors will come In sporty or torq master cases with options in gearratio.also you will have the option for the HD mid. Warranty will only be 2 years STD. You can purchase extended thru mercury but it is $$.

For your application you should get the 250xs with HD mid and 1.62 mid.this will be the best for a 28 skater .

Forgot to mention that all new 3.0l opti's will come with the new style 300xs exhaust plate. This plate dumps most of the wAter out the back of the lower cowling and helps improve mid range acceleration. Works similar to the simmon poppet valve kit .

Do the 175 pro xs come with solid motor mounts

They do not... They come with a polymer "semi solid" mounts. Not soft mounts and not solids, kind of an inbetween to improve handling in HP apps..

Also need to mention the fuel rail pressure is also boosted I think 10lbs in the pro xs and xs line.
