I'm working on a mid 70's V8 volvo penta I/O. Not my cup of tea but it's a buddy and could use a little help.It seems not to have power trim and tilt which I guess is OK but behind the motor on the bellhousing area it has a 2 wire electric motor going to a tube entering the bellhousing. It doesn't work but I have no idea what it is and can't find it in a parts breakdown, any help would be appreciated, thanks. Brad:eek:

That's the tilt motor/worm gear assembly... good luck with yourself, Swedish to English leaves a lot to be desired. Wait until you need the shift control cube. ;)

the motor is like any other 12v just make sure the shaft is straight, 2 allen heads andthe whole assembly pulls out from the bell housing. ( not to be attempted if moored)
It needs to be stuck fully up to allow the reverse lock to work.
They get killed when you select reverse and the drive is tilted so the drive flys up and then smacks back down on the tilt motor shaft. forcing he clutch to let go ( which is what its for I guess)
I'll have a manual but its at home and I wont be back for a month or 2

That motor drives a pin that lifts the drive, being in Florida, and if it's in salt water, the pin may be seized into the housing.fun job......................

Lots on ebay too. The Volvo is a snap to work on but I imagine salt does add to the difficulty.
Lynn, what's a shift control cube?

The little part that screws on the end of the shift cable that hooks to the shift mechanism on the drive. I got a good lol out of that a few years ago.
