benji- I've got the block that's getting built sitting side by side on the bench with my windowed 220sp block. at minimum I plan to match the ports to those in the 220sp. I just wasn't sure if one set of rods offered an advantage over the other.....
I've started testing/drilling for tubes on the junk/blown 220 block....I really want to include them in my actual build but I'm already seeing it is a TON of work!!!!

Isn't Hydrotech the Yamaha guru? Mite ask him.
Best of luck with the project.

hydrotec---I've spent a ton of time on the phone with John back when I was buying parts for my old v4. he was great to talk to and very patient in explaining things.
however that's when I was spending money with them. I doubt I'll spend any money with hydrotec on this build, I will be running their ht5252 tuner which was the first thing I ever bought from hydrotec. so I really don't think it's right to call them and try to get free advice......
just looking for advice from our fellow s&f yamaha guys....

which are the best rods to run and why- the 22 or 23mm wrist pin sizes? Mike the newer rods come with the cadged bearing they are easier to install than the smaller loose neddle bearings. The only yamaha rod with a performance advantage that I have heard about are the long rods and pistons PN 61Y. They are a very hard to come buy. Joe Raimondo
