Folks, I have joined this forum quite by accident. I recently bought a trailer for one of my other boats, and it came with a boat on it. It was sold to the guy I bought it from as a JCraft and he took the motor off for yet another boat. Anyway, it has been suggested that this is actually a Kennedy. If anyone can help me identify this boat, I would very much appreciate it. I have checked for hull markings or ID plates but have found nothing. It does have a registration # so maybe I can reverse identify it. It had a Merc 115 on it but I only have an Merc 85 but being a small boat it should still move ok. Here are some pics I took today. Thanks WB

looks to me like it could be an MX-15 checkmate, but that was just a quick look

I'm pretty sure it's a West Wind. My Dad had several of those back in the day. They later became Pisces when the employees of the company went together and purchased it. It shares the same hull as the Checkmate V-Mate the distinct difference was the shape of the top of the gunnels.
These boats can handle some power. Dad currently runs the Checkmate model today. If you have any questions about it give me a call at my office after Jan. 4th. 803-897-3806 I'll be glad to tell you anything I know about them. They have loads of potential.

Kennedy was a boat company in a Toronto suburb in the 70s. They made boats with a remarkable resemblance to Checkmates. I saw a lot of 14 and 15 foot Kennedys at the races in the 70's.

Normally the hull ID number is in the transom, at the right.

If you are interested in having the boat restored, contact John Spaeth at Hydrostream Canada in Brechin, ON.

Thanks all. I have, in fact, determined that it is a West Wind MX15. I have searched the web for any info on West Wind or Pisces boats and have failed. Does anyone know of a secret source of info for them? Thanks

Not sure you will find info on the web. I'll be happy to give you all the info and potential uses for them. I won't be back at the office untill Jan. 5th.I'll be searching for creatures with feathers and bills all next week.
If you like give me a shout then and I'll fill you in on them or send me an e-mail to quartermaster22@gmail.com and I'll do my best to describe it. Much easier to tell you though.
As long as the boat isn't rotted all to hell it can be fixed right and will handle a "butt-load" of HP, trust me. it's all in the set up. Most people are astonished at how well those hulls will handle HP on the tail.
Bill (mirage243) can atest to how well they will run on a drag "track"

Be glad to help you out in any way you need.
