2.5 to 2.0 mid

I have a 82 single ram mid with a tired 2.0 Is it possible to put on a 2.5 powerhead? I'm not particularly attached to the mid but if it's cost effective it could be a go. I have a 95 promax 150 on my other boat and was thinking about replacing it's powerhead with something hotter,and put the 150 on the slow boat. Trying to kill 2 birds with one stone.:confused:

You'll need to change the tuner itself. The 2.0 has a long tuner for low end torque and it has rectangular bottom of the block exhaust ports( I recommend you match these but it's not absolutely necessary as the square 2.5 port is not blocked by the tuner plate as it would be if done in reverse) but otherwise everything will work fine. Common swap.

Some of the 2.5L have long tuners also. I have seen long tuners on 98 2.5 150's EFI and 92 2.5 200 carbed engines. If it is a XR2 2.0L it will have the 2.4 200 bell tuner from the factory, which most feel are best. Just my experiences.
