This is my first time doing anything like this on an outboard. I'm working on a 1988 175 with a bad piston and swapping on a 2.4l 200 that was on my checkmate. You guys have any tips or tricks to make this go a little smoother? The power head swap looks pretty straight forward, I actually got the bad one off yesterday. I searched but didn't really find much on the mount install other than they are a good to have for going fast.

On a side note what will it take to swap to the cowling pictured below? Will in need anything other than what is pictured?

If you already pulled your powerhead the mounts will be easy. The mid section will come off as a assy. once you have all 4 monts loose.

I switched to that style cowl from a clam shell this summer, you will also need 2 brackets that have the round grommets on them. For the front bracket I had to drill and tap holes in the adapter plate to hol the bracket. The rear bracket will be held on with the back 3 bolts from your adapter plate so the power head will need to be off to install the brackets.

I'm shure others will have some better tips.

Do you have any pics of the brackets I need?
