1980s Corvette sales video. Once you finish laughing from the cheesy "fairy tale" plot, note the pre-production wheels on the red car and lack of the Bose stereo and electronic climate control (though not standard equipment, it would surely have been in the video). That red car in the video has to be one of the pre-production units.

It wasn't much in a straight line, but If I remember right it was one of if not the best handling production car available at the time....

That was a landmark car. The 84 Vette came after over a decade of cars getting slower, heavier, and thirstier every year. The 1984 Vette showed that hope was possible. The power wasn't much, but it was a step up from what went before, and they have kept increasing it to this day.

I thought the z-51 option blanked some of the creature comforts? I seem to remember getting in a couple that did'nt have radios at all and they rode like a radio flyer wagon over rough roads..

As far as I know, the Z51 did not delete any option. I know my cousin had an '84 with the Z51 and he had the Delco-Bose system and computerized climate control.
